ONTARIO PARKS KIOSK
A refined kiosk experience design showcasing the identity, visual language, and immersive natural heritage of Ontario Parks.
Challenge
How can design bring the Ontario Parks kiosk experience to life while clearly communicating park information, wayfinding, and natural heritage in a way that feels intuitive, engaging, and easy to navigate?
Overview
This project involved designing and developing an interactive kiosk experience for Ontario Parks. The goal was to create an intuitive and engaging interface that communicates park information, wayfinding, and key messages through a cohesive system of layout, typography, iconography, and visual design that reflects the natural environment.
Role
I led the full design process, including concept development, user experience planning, interface design, visual direction, and layout execution, culminating in the final production of the Ontario Parks kiosk experience.
Production Process
The project began with researching the Ontario Parks brand, including a guideline book developed by Karilyn Xu, to understand existing visual standards, tone, and communication strategies. From there, I developed interface layouts, typographic hierarchies, and visual elements to create a cohesive and engaging kiosk experience aligned with the brand.

The home screen introduces users to the Ontario Parks kiosk through a clear and welcoming interface. Key pathways are presented as large, accessible buttons, allowing users to quickly navigate between park history, activities, and interactive content. The layout emphasizes simplicity and readability, ensuring usability for a wide range of visitors.
History Timeline
This screen presents the evolution of Ontario’s provincial parks system through an interactive timeline. Information is structured chronologically and paired with imagery to make historical content more engaging and easier to explore. The design balances dense information with visual clarity, allowing users to quickly scan key milestones.
Visitor Activities
The activities section highlights experiences available within Ontario Parks, such as hiking. Content is paired with strong imagery to create an immersive feel while maintaining clear informational hierarchy. This approach helps users quickly understand what they can do while encouraging exploration.
Interactive Wildlife
This screen introduces an interactive learning experience focused on Ontario’s wildlife. Users can explore native bird species and engage with audio elements, creating a more memorable and educational interaction. The design combines clear typography with large visuals to support both usability and engagement.
