PRODUCT DEMO
A cinematic product showcase highlighting the design, features, and tactile experience of the PlayStation DualSense wireless controller.
Challenge
How can motion design highlight the innovation and tactile experience of the PlayStation DualSense controller while keeping the presentation cinematic, engaging, and easy to follow?
Overview
This project involved designing and producing a cinematic product demo video for the PlayStation DualSense Wireless Controller using Adobe After Effects. The goal was to highlight the controller's design, features, and ergonomic details through dynamic motion graphics and lighting effects.
Role
I handled the full production pipeline including concept development, storyboarding, motion design, editing, visual effects, and final video compositing in After Effects.
Production Process
The project began with reference research and storyboard planning to determine the key product moments and camera movements. From there, I developed motion sequences, lighting animations, and transitions to create a polished product presentation.
Motion Design System
Visual Style
The motion design emphasizes dramatic lighting, smooth camera movement, and subtle particle effects to highlight the controller’s curves and materials. A dark, high-contrast environment reinforces the premium PlayStation aesthetic.
Motion Techniques
Camera Movement
Slow cinematic camera movements guide the viewer through the product's form, emphasizing its curves, buttons, and tactile surfaces.
Lighting Animation
Animated light sweeps and glow effects were used to highlight the controller’s design features and reinforce the futuristic PlayStation aesthetic.
Transitions
Seamless transitions and motion blur were used to maintain visual flow and keep the product as the focal point throughout the video.
